The Ghost Light Project
Start Date: 1/19/2017Start Time: 5:00 PM
End Date: 1/19/2017End Time: 6:00 PM

Event Description
On Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in each time zone across the country, members of the theatre community — from Broadway to regional theatres, and high schools, colleges and community theatres — will come together to launch The Ghost Light Project. Gathering outside of theatres on the eve of the Presidential Inauguration, people will join in a collective, simultaneous action, together creating "light" for challenging times ahead.

Inspired by the tradition of leaving a "ghost light" on in a darkened theatre, artists and communities will make or renew a pledge to stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone —
regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, (dis)ability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Join us at the M. Lee Pelton Theatre on the Willamette University campus this Thursday, January 19, beginning at 5:15 p.m. for a community gathering. We invite you to bring family, friends, and a flashlight (or other light-emitting device like a cell phone) to participate in the ghost light ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
