Event Image Figure and Form: African Ceramics from the Keith Achepohl Collection (Multi-Day Event)
All Day

Over the centuries, African potters have created unique and innovative ceramic vessels for domestic and ritual use. Made by hand and often fired in the open, these vessels embody an immediacy of form and a deceptive simplicity that reflect a deep understanding of material, process, and embellishment. Organized by director John Olbrantz, the exhibition will feature 17 ceramic vessels from the Keith Achepohl collection of Eugene, Oregon.

Event Image Louis Bunce: Works on Paper (Multi-Day Event)
All Day

Through Sunday, Jan. 29
Museum — Print Study Center

Louis Bunce (1907-1983) was a rising star in American art of the 1940s and ‘50s, and his silkscreen prints helped transform what had been a means to produce advertising into a medium for limited edition fine art printmaking. Organized by Roger Hull, professor emeritus and senior faculty curator, the exhibition features a range of prints and works on paper. Hull presents a gallery talk Sunday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m.

"Agents of Change" Documentary Film and Discussion
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

*WU Campus - Ford Hall

From the well-publicized events at San Francisco State in 1968 to the image of black students with guns emerging from the takeover of the student union at Cornell University in April, 1969, the struggle for a more relevant and meaningful education, including demands for black and ethnic studies programs, became a clarion call across the country in the late 1960's. Through the stories of these young men and women who were at the forefront of these efforts, Agents of Change examines the untold story of the racial conditions on college campuses and in the country that led to these protests. The film’s characters were caught at the crossroads of the civil rights, black power, and anti-Vietnam war movements at a pivotal time in America’s history. Today, over 45 years later, many of the same demands are surfacing in campus protests across the country, revealing how much work remains to be done. Join Directors Directors Frank Dawson and Abby Ginzberg for a screening and discussion.
