MBA for Professionals Portland Prospective Student Coffee Chat

Event Image Exhibition | Jan Zach: Works on Paper | July 30 - October 23

Explore the drawings, sketch books, and sculpture maquettes created by the late University of Oregon professor Jan Zach (1914-1986). Curated by HFMA collection curator Jonathan Bucci, the exhibition will draw from the museum’s extensive collection of Zach’s art, and from the Pacific Northwest Artist Archive housed at Willamette University’s Hatfield Library.

Zach was born in Slany, Czechoslovakia and came to the United States via Brazil and Victoria, BC to teach sculpture at the University of Oregon for 20 years. As a practicing artist, Zach explored themes of light and movement in nature.

Event Image Exhibition | Russell Childers: Oregon Outsider | July 30 - October 23

Russell Childers (1915-1998) was a self-taught wood carver whose themes focused on memories of his mother, childhood, animals, important historical figures, Western imagery, and his life at Oregon Fairview Home in Salem, where he lived for 39 years. Organized by collection curator Jonathan Bucci, the exhibition will feature 25 wood sculptures on loan from public and private collections throughout the western United States.

Strange and Wonderful: American Folk Art from the Willem and Diane Volkersz Collection

Willem and Diane Volkersz of Bozeman, Montana have collected folk and outsider art since the mid-1970s, amassing an extensive collection over the past 40 years. Organized by director John Olbrantz under the guidance of the Volkersz’, this exhibition features 108 objects by 32 artists that reflect the breadth and scope of this remarkable collection. Included in the exhibition are paintings, sculptures, drawings, ceramics, textiles, and mixed media works by self-taught and outsider artists such as the Rev. Howard Finster, Arthur Frenchy, Robert E. Smith, and Sarah Taylor, among many others.

Each year, SCA places over 2,000 interns in a diverse array of businesses, public lands agencies, and nonprofit organizations.

One of the best ways to learn if the Willamette MBA is a good fit for you is to experience it firsthand. By attending the Willamette MBA for Professionals Experience, you will get the opportunity to meet with an admissions staff representative, join a cohort for class and talk with students and professors at dinner. Before class, you'll meet a staff member for the program overview and tour. The Strategic Management class runs from 6:00-7:30pm and you'll enjoy the included catered dinner from 7:30-8:00pm and chat with students about their experience in the program.
Event Image Percunova Percussion Duo

The PERCUNOVA Percussion Duo (Jonathan Ovalle & Neeraj Mehta) strives to bring contemporary art music and global percussion rhythms together through diverse repertoire and virtuosic performance. The duo made their international debut at the 2014 Mahidol University Brass and Percussion Conference in Bangkok, Thailand where they performed a full recital, gave educational clinics & workshops, and appeared with the Mahidol University Wind Ensemble as concerto soloists while in residence.  Following their Thailand debut, the duo toured India, where they presented performance workshops at seven international schools in the cities of Mumbai and Pune. More recently, the duo has been active performing and giving workshops at universities in the U.S.  including William Paterson University, Queens College, Colorado State University, University of Colorado-Denver,  and University of Denver.

With a collaboration history of ten years in a wide variety of musical genres, Jonathan Ovalle  & Neeraj Mehta have appeared together and independently throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Their experience includes performances at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, The Midwest Clinic, Detroit International Jazz Festival, Art Tatum Heritage Jazz Festival, as well as numerous guest artist residencies including the Juilliard School, Northern Illinois University, the University of Texas A&M-Commerce, Baylor University, Butler University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Their current work together as PERCUNOVA includes concertizing and developing repertoire which features contemporary duo percussion works, new commissions, transcriptions, and original co-composed and improvised music. Jonathan Ovalle and Neeraj Mehta are sponsored by Pearl/Adams, Innovative Percussion, Remo, and Zildjian.
