3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

*WU Campus - Rogers Music Center

Salem, Oregon The Willamette Master Chorus will open its 33rd season with its annual Veterans concert “A Call for Peace.” There will be two matinee performances, on November 11th and November 12th at 3:00 p.m. in Hudson Hall (Mary Rogers Music Center) at Willamette University in Salem, OR.

The concert will begin with a performance of the poignant “Dona Nobis Pacem” by the English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, of Gloucestershire, England. The composition was written in 1936 on a commission from the Huddersfield Choral Society, and features the text of American poet Walt Whitman.

The Chorus will also perform local Salem resident Dave Metzger’s’ composition, “The Call.” Written in 2011, the piece is based on original text commissioned from Henry Hughes, Professor of Literature and Writing at Western Oregon University.  Salem area veterans representing World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Irag-Afganistan will assist with narration, with a special presentation by Gerry Frank, a Word War II veteran.
