Faculty/Guest Artist Recital Series at Willamette University

SALEM, Ore.— On Sunday afternoon February 25th the Willamette University Department of Music present a Faculty/Guest Artist recital.  The program begins at 3:00 pm in Hudson Concert Hall, Rogers Music Center.

The program will feature oboist Catherine Lee and percussionist Matt Hannfin, works for solo oboe, oboe d'amore and fixed media, and oboe and oboe d'amore and percussion will be performed. This program explores the different levels of improvisation that are present in a musical score as the works we have chosen cover a wide continuum from those that are strictly notated to those that outline different ways in which composers have included elements of improvisation for performers to interpret.

The program will include: Six Metamorphoses after Ovid Op. 49 by Benjamin Britten, Ryoanji (1985) by John Cage, Two for T by Pauline Oliveros, Musical Pattern No. 4 (2006) by Robert J. Kirkpartick and the premier of a new composition for oboe d'amore and fixed media (2018) by Willamette Artist Associate Julian Snow.

The concert is free of charge, however contributions to the WU Summer Music Study programs would be welcome
