Event Description
Professor Andries Fourie will speak about Mandela's importance to South Africa and his legacy. Four students will then talk about Mandela's impact on them and on the world. The Convocation will close with a moderated discussion about Mandela's political and historical impact and the ways we can honor his legacy through service, activism, and be dedicating ourselves to his spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation.

John Comaroff, who was originally scheduled to speak, is unable to appear.

This presentation is part of the 9th Annual Celebration of Africa sponsored by the African Studies Club.

The University Convocation series is facilitated through the Office of the Chaplains and planned by the students of IDS 202 (Convo: Campus/Community/Cosmos).
