Diane Trevett offers Salem Chamber Orchestra 30th Anniversary Commemorative Painting

Diane Trevett ~ Calla Studio Fine Art

Diane's approach to drawing and painting comes from her emotional and spiritual response to the subject.  Flowers, fruit, sea shells, and land forms inspire her. She uses a scientific and illustrative approach to flower and plant study as in botanical illustration. However, she departs from that style in a contemporary and stylized way.
She works in a spacious studio/gallery adjacent to her home in Salem, Oregon, called “Calla Studio”. It is named after the calla lily, a flower with unique form and color that has been a long-time inspiration. This flower became a motif of her idol, Georgia O’Keeffe.
The subject of this painting for the SCO is a French horn with a morning glory flower.
Diane explains: “I enjoy combining flowers or plants and musical instruments, where one morphs into the other,  emphasizing their common attributes of shape, form and structure”.
Diane received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Oregon University in 1991, with a focus on drawing and painting.   Since then she has worked in arts management and is currently employed as an administrative assistant in the music department at Willamette University.

Join us at the Paulus Lecture Hall at the Willamette University College of Law (245 Winter St. S.E.) for a lecture by Portland sculptor Mel Katz.
