Curated by HFMA collection curator Jonathan Bucci, the exhibition will draw from the museum’s extensive collection of Zach’s art, and from the Pacific Northwest Artist Archive housed at Willamette University’s Hatfield Library.

Zach was born in Slany, Czechoslovakia and came to the United States via Brazil and Victoria, BC to teach sculpture at the University of Oregon for 20 years. As a practicing artist, Zach explored themes of light and movement in nature.

Title IX Q&A
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

*WU Campus - Putnam University Center

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex or gender in the university's programs and activities. Title IX protects male, female, and gender non-conforming students, faculty, and staff from any sex- or gender-based discrimination, harassment or violence. The campus community is invited to a Q&A session with members of the Title IX team on September 7th @ 3pm in the Alumni Lounge. This is an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to learn about new resources and opportunities added in supporting our commitment to the safety and education of our community. Some of the information to be discussed includes: - Confidential advocate position established - Carli Rohner has been hired as our Advocacy and Prevention Coordinator. This role serves to outreach and educate our community on a broad range of issues related to sexual violence and related health issues. Additionally, this resource is intended to empower students in their reporting and maintain agency as they engage in support. - Establishment of Title IX Coordinating Committee - This group will meet quarterly to discuss process, patterns, resources, trainings, and federal updates in maintaining compliance and the safety of our community. This group has identified two faculty and will have student representation appointed by ASWU. - Deputy Title IX Coordinators - Domanic Thomas (sr. associate dean of campus life) and Shana Sechrist (associate vice president for human resources & deputy general counsel) have been named Deputy Title IX Coordinators. - Sexual Misconduct Policy updates - The policy was updated to further clarify Sexual/Gender-based Harassment and to include Retaliation as 9.g. within Standard 9. The procedures have been separated from policy and additional procedural information and clarification has been provided. - Climate Survey results - Consistent with guidance from the White House Task Force on Sexual Assault, Willamette completed its second climate survey in 2015 and published the results in April of 2016. Willamette is steadfast and unwavering in its commitment to put in place practices to prevent and respond to gender-based discrimination (including all forms of harassment). We will continue to work towards creating and maintaining a positive and safe environment so that all members of the Bearcat community can encourage the learning, teaching, and support for all of us to succeed.
