WU College of Law Class of 1956 60-Year Reunion (Multi-Day Event)
All Day

We look forward to welcoming you back for your 60th Reunion Dinner on Sept. 24, 2016, with a variety of events on campus Friday and Saturday. We hope you will be back to reconnect with old friends, meet current students, and hear an update on the law school.

In addition to your reunion, there are many other events and sessions throughout Alumni Weekend which you are welcome to attend! Some highlights include the following:

Law CLE: IP at the Cutting Edge
Friday, Sept. 23 | 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Willamette College of Law Room TBD

This Continuing Legal Education class will be perfect for practitioners without a background in intellectual property law, as an overview of current issues. This CLE will cover current cases in patent, copyright, and trademark law. One general credit (Oregon State Bar). Vincent Chiappetta, professor of law, director of the Law and Business Program. Included with $10 registration fee.

Law CLE: The New Law Firm
Friday, Sept. 23 | Noon to 1 p.m.
Willamette College of Law Room TBD

This CLE will analyze the pros and cons of such alternative business structures in the US, and examine other jurisdictions where these changes have already taken place. One ethics credit (Oregon State Bar). Yvonne Tamayo, professor and Willamette general counsel. Included with $10 registration fee. Box lunch available for an additional charge.

Audit a Law School Class

Event Image Exhibition | Jan Zach: Works on Paper | July 30 - October 23

Explore the drawings, sketch books, and sculpture maquettes created by the late University of Oregon professor Jan Zach (1914-1986). Curated by HFMA collection curator Jonathan Bucci, the exhibition will draw from the museum’s extensive collection of Zach’s art, and from the Pacific Northwest Artist Archive housed at Willamette University’s Hatfield Library.

Zach was born in Slany, Czechoslovakia and came to the United States via Brazil and Victoria, BC to teach sculpture at the University of Oregon for 20 years. As a practicing artist, Zach explored themes of light and movement in nature.

Event Image Exhibition | Russell Childers: Oregon Outsider | July 30 - October 23

Russell Childers (1915-1998) was a self-taught wood carver whose themes focused on memories of his mother, childhood, animals, important historical figures, Western imagery, and his life at Oregon Fairview Home in Salem, where he lived for 39 years. Organized by collection curator Jonathan Bucci, the exhibition will feature 25 wood sculptures on loan from public and private collections throughout the western United States.

Event Image Exhibition | Strange and Wonderful: American Folk Art... | Sept 17 - Dec. 22

Strange and Wonderful: American Folk Art from the Willem and Diane Volkersz Collection

Willem and Diane Volkersz of Bozeman, Montana have collected folk and outsider art since the mid-1970s, amassing an extensive collection over the past 40 years. Organized by director John Olbrantz under the guidance of the Volkersz’, this exhibition features 108 objects by 32 artists that reflect the breadth and scope of this remarkable collection. Included in the exhibition are paintings, sculptures, drawings, ceramics, textiles, and mixed media works by self-taught and outsider artists such as the Rev. Howard Finster, Arthur Frenchy, Robert E. Smith, and Sarah Taylor, among many others.

Join exhibition curator Jonathan Bucci and learn more about the life and art of Russell Childers (1915-1998), a self-taught Oregon woodcarver who spent 39 years institutionalized at Oregon Fairview Home in Salem. This lecture is offered in conjunction with the “Russell Childers: Oregon Outsider” exhibition that will continue through Oct. 23, 2016 at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art's Study Gallery.
