DebateWatch: US Presidential Debate
5:45 PM - 8:00 PM

*WU Campus - Putnam University Center

Join us for the first DebateWatch of the 2016 US Presidential campaign! Willamette DebateWatch events bring together community members to view the US Presidential debates and participate in discussions about issues related to the election. At 5:45, Professors Cindy Koenig Richards (Civic Communication and Media) and Melissa Buis Michaux (Politics) and will kick off DebateWatch with a 10-minute talk about candidates' strategies and what to watch for as Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump debate. At the conclusion of the televised debate, student leaders will facilitate small group conversations. Held in conjunction with the Commission on Presidential Debates, the public is welcome to attend these free, non-partisan, student-led events. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. In 2012, each DebateWatch session drew hundreds of attendees from the Salem community, including journalists who joined students, faculty, staff and others discussing the debate live on Twitter using the hashtag #WUDW.
