Event Description
Please join the American Constitution Society (ACS) and the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA) for a conversation and Q&A with Simon Tam, founder of The Slants, an Asian-American dance pop band from Oregon, who were defendants in the 2017 Supreme Court trademark case Matal v. Tam, 137 S Ct 1744 (2017). This will be an informative event starting off with an introduction by Portland attorney Sean Clancy, an expert in Intellectual Property and Trademark law from Emerge Law Group. Simon will then discuss his band's victory at SCOTUS earlier this year and how the decision impacts racial issues and trademark registration throughout the United States.
