Distilled Pub Talks: The Revolutionary Power of Plant-based Diets
Start Date: 6/6/2018Start Time: 7:30 PM
End Date: 6/6/2018End Time: 9:00 PM

Event Description

Because of an annual event at the venue and Willamette’s commencement in May, the next Distilled will be on June 6 at 7:30 p.m., when visiting professor Anne DeLessio-Parson will present “The Revolutionary Potential of Plant-based Diets.”

"Our individual-level food choices connect us to social structures," says DeLessio-Parson. "As we come to see these connections, the question becomes: How can we eat for liberation? We'll talk about social justice and the revolutionary potential of plant-based diets."

After graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s and masters in political science from Boston University, DeLessio-Parson earned her masters in rural sociology as well as her doctorate in sociology and demography from Penn State. DeLessio-Parson’s recent research explores the social implications of vegetarians and vegans who choose to buck barbecue in Argentina’s carnivorous culture.
