Family Activity Day at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art

Event Description
Join us for a celebration of the Hallie Ford Museum of Art’s 20th Anniversary with activities inspired by our permanent collection.
12-4 pm
Artmaking includes palette knife painting with sgraffito, and fun with clay. In addition, American Studies Program (ASP)* students will demonstrate Japanese style calligraphy, or shodo, and will teach visitors to write their names or other words.    

1-2 pm and 2:30-3:30 pm 
ASP students will also share with visitors Happi coats, traditional Japanese jackets often worn at festivals.  

12-1:30 pm and 2-3:30 pm
Developed and led by Anna Neshyba (Willamette ’18), visitors are invited to participate in a virtual reality experience. Using a VR headset and controllers, you can “enter” Paul Missal’s painting, “The Hallway.”  

* ASP students: American Studies Program student are international students from Tokyo International University in Kawagoe, Japan, who study at Willamette University for one year.
