Event Description
Dr. Mrinal Sinha will be discussing his new book, Beyond Machismo: Intersectional Latino Identities. Challenging prevailing notions of Latino machismo, sexism, and homogeneity, the book demonstrates how education, life experiences, and exposure to feminist ideas are changing the norms, values, and perceptions of young Latino men and their communities.

Dr. Sinha is an assistant professor in psychology at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB). He received his B.A. in social and behavioral sciences at CSUMB and his M.S. and Ph.D. in social psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His research interests include educational success with Latina/o students, the racialization of gender, and feminist consciousness.
